Trees are a valuable asset to the urban area.

What do they do for us?

Trees absorb carbon dioxide and other gases from our air.

Trees act as a natural air conditioner by intercepting the sun and shading our environment.

Trees provide privacy and screening from noise, wind and unpleasant views.

Trees provide food and habitat for wildlife and birds

Trees provide beauty all year long

Trees in urban areas need care that trees in a forest may not require. Urban trees live in a very harsh conditions in close proximity to human activities. The soil that they grow in is often compacted and lacks required nutrients and organic matter. Humans frequently encroach upon trees’ growing space with houses, roads and hard landscaping. Humans can injure trees with poor pruning and lack of protection from human activities.

Can urban trees live for a century or more? Yes.

Can you help your trees grow to reach their maximum potential in longevity and beauty? Yes.

Remove the Tree Stump

Tree stumps can be left in the ground or can be ground out to allow you to plant the area with grass, gardens or another tree. Our stump-grinding machine grinds out the wood within the stump to a depth of approximately 10 inches. Individual roots are not removed and can be left in the soil to decay and add organic matter to the soil. Our machine is 36 inches wide. If your tree stump is in the backyard, your gate must be wider than 36 inches to allow access. We cannot climb steps or steep slopes with the machine so the approach to your stump must be flat and fairly level. Unless otherwise requested, the stump chips that are produced by the chipper are raked into a pile back over the stump area. The chips make excellent mulch and can be spread over the root system of trees, shrubs and plants. To sod the stump area, remove the stump chips and replace with soil. Then add sod or grass seed.
