About Marcello Santarossa :
Marcello’s fondest memories growing up were of outdoor activities. Between attending college and working, Marcello would look forward to getting out of the city whenever he got the chance. Whether it was hiking, camping or paddling, during these excursions he developed a strong appreciation and respect for Ontario’s natural landscapes.
After obtaining a diploma in chemical laboratory technology, Marcello soon discovered that he longed for a career that would allow him to spend as much time outdoors as possible. In 2007, Marcello moved to Vancouver to pursue a career in the telecommunications industry. Although content working as a telecom technician in various Canadian cities, Marcello still felt a desire to pursue a career that was in tune with the natural landscapes and outdoor activities he had enjoyed throughout his life.
While watching a tree crew prune a relative’s large Maple tree, Marcello was inspired to research the path to pursuing a career in arboriculture. An arborist pointed him in the direction of Humber’s Arboriculture program where he connected with instructors who worked for Kelly’s Tree Care. Marcello accepted a position as an apprentice arborist at Kelly’s Tree Care where he is currently developing his skills as an arborist under the guidance of the company’s many talented climbers.
Arboriculture has proven to be the perfect combination of science, physical activity and technical challenge that Marcello was looking for in a career.
When he’s not climbing Marcello enjoys exploring the GTA’s urban forests with his two Australian shepherds.
